St Hilda’s always needs support to maintain its much needed work with the community in the East End of London.
This year, St Hilda’s will be turning 130, and to celebrate, we are trying to raise £130,000; one thousand pounds to mark every year. Please click on the link to make a donation, which helps us continue our life-saving services.
In addition to other costs, we are also trying to raise funds for a new minibus to transport housebound and less mobile older people to Sonali Gardens in Shadwell.
In 2007, St Hilda’s was presented with a new 15-seat wheelchair accessible minibus. This was made possible by a legacy from the former Eastenders actress, Gretchen Franklin. The minibus is called ‘Ethel’ in memory of her Eastenders character and is used for our community centre based Older People’s Project.
For many years we also had a second minibus, used to transport housebound users to our Day Centre at our second site, Sonali Gardens. However, after much sterling service, this vehicle had to be decommissioned recently. We therefore urgently need to replace it with a new minibus.
We need to raise £40,000 for the new vehicle, and greatly appreciate any support towards this target, large or small! Donations can be made using the Charities Aid Foundation’s secure online payment system.
