The centre is now officially 125 years old, having just had our official birthday on October 26th! This year has seen a very exciting programme of events and arts projects and has been very enjoyable for all our users and staff.

Our sponsored walk team for the London Legal Support Trust in May raised a grand total of over £7000, and everyone completed the 10km circuit! There were some sore feet the day after but the whole team finished with a great sense of accomplishment.

Our main event of the summer was our street party, held around the corner from the centre. We had some fantastic live performances of music and dance, a ceilidh dance group that got everyone up and moving, a delicious meal featuring a vintage-inspired lamb and barley stew and a whole range of stalls, activities and excitements! Themed around ‘Then and Now’, the street party illustrated the history of the centre and the local area and also featured an exhibition taken from our archives along with contemporary work done by centre users.

Coming up on November 10th we have our Annual General Meeting, which this year will be a grand celebration of the anniversary! Centre users and pupils from a local primary school will perform a song specially written for the occasion, and there will be performances and presentations from a number of projects. The event will finish up with a traditionally delicious St Hilda’s meal, and should be a fitting highlight to our anniversary year. Come and join us at 6pm to celebrate St Hilda’s East!
