Adult Wellbeing at St. Hilda’s East
Something for everyone
Our well-being is important and at times we need some extra support to keep and stay well. We offer our local community a range of activities to support well-being and bring people together. In partnership with Mind Tower Hamlets, Newham & Redbridge we offer Tower Hamlet residents weekly yoga class, weekly creative space group and monthly cooking club. As well as a group for women to come together.
“I recognised I needed to engage with groups that nourished my spirits, which I found in the confines of St. Hilda’s East and Creative Space”.
Creative Space
Every Monday 2pm-4pm
Our Creative Space in east London supports wellbeing through weekly all-ability creative sessions such as creative writing, beading, pottery, mosaics, and more. It brings together adults in Tower Hamlets with mental health needs to meet, try new activities, and build social connections.
The group meets every Monday, 2–4pm, and is free to join. Participants are also asked to register with Mind in Tower Hamlets, Redbridge and Newham. Creative Space is relaxed and welcoming, so no prior experience or skill is needed.
Activities are designed to boost confidence, encourage self-expression, and foster a sense of community. Sessions have included candle making, mixed media art, pebble painting, mug and coaster decorating, jewellery making, and creative writing. Every eight weeks, NHS Talking Therapies run sessions to provide professional mental health support.
Our Wellbeing Facilitator develops activities and links with local creative services, offering opportunities such as mindful pottery and wheel throwing with Columbia Road Clay.

“Creative Space is a gentle and loving nudge forward on my healing journey”.
“To just be in a space with good people. I enjoyed myself and I made something I can use and because I had a good time, my mind and body were relaxed which helped my mental wellbeing.”
Women’s Group
Second and fourth Tuesday monthly 2pm-4pm
Women and Wellbeing, our women’s group in east London, meets fortnightly on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, 2–4pm. The group provides self-identifying women with a culturally sensitive, safe space to take part in activities, develop skills, and build social connections.
The group aims to reduce social isolation, encourage inclusion, strengthen community, and provide peer-to-peer support. Participants have the opportunity to discuss mental health openly in a women-only setting, which many find more comfortable than mixed-gender spaces.
Workshops and activities are designed to boost confidence, improve wellbeing, and offer purposeful engagement. These include aromatherapy, ‘Self-Care and Mental Health’ sessions with Tower Hamlets Talking Therapies, and creative projects such as tote bag embroidery, eco period product making, potting plants, macrame, henna painting, and puppet making with Historic Royal Palaces.
Activities foster creativity, learning, and friendship while providing an escape from everyday pressures and a chance to focus on personal wellbeing.

“ Sometimes you just feel as if, is it just me with that problem? But then you hear from another person in the group, and you realise no, I’m not the only one. And that gives you more confidence in knowing there are more people with it as well.”
“The group has given me a space where I can come and just be myself”
Cooking Club
