Linkage Plus Tower Hamlets

LinkAge Plus Tower Hamlets is for people over 50 living in Tower Hamlets to help improve their health and wellbeing and reduce isolation through building social connections and giving opportunities to learn, stay active and make the most of later life.
St. Hilda’s East’s LinkAge Plus is based in Sonali Gardens Day Centre in Shadwell. We are one of five hubs working with people across the borough other hubs are Age UK East London, Neighbours in Poplar, Peabody at Sundial and Toynbee Hall.
From our hub in Shadwell and local venues our LinkAge Plus team offer a variety of practical, physical and wellbeing activities:

Exercise and physical activity classes including Line dancing, exercise

Information and Advice sessions including ‘Trips and Falls’, scam awareness

Creative and Social Activities including darts club, coffee mornings, movie matinee, Men’s pool and darts club

Health and Learning opportunities including ESOL and digital/computer classes
Our team will also work with people individually, we will:

meet you at home or a place of convenience such as a café if getting to our centre is difficult
-
support you in signposting or referring to appropriate services
-
encourage and support the take up of welfare benefits you are entitled to

help complete application forms to access various services, including Taxi Card and Dial-a-Ride
We work with amazing partners to deliver an exciting range of activities, trips and events, such as a weekly dance class with the English National Ballet and singing performances with the Mary Ward Centre. We are also part of the Sadler’s Wells London-wide ‘Get into Dance’ scheme. Our theatre group regularly attends West End performances.
Free unless otherwise stated, We sometimes ask for a small contribution if you are able to give this. Please speak with the team if this is difficult.
Darts Club
Come along, have some fun and step up to the Oche at our Darts Club.
This is relaxed and fun group, we meet weekly on Tuesday 10.30 -12.30 at Sonali Gardens Day Centre

ESOL Class
For people who want to improve their conversational English in a supportive, social non-judgemental group.
Group members have diverse reasons to want practice their English from being able to chat with their grandchildren to speaking with health professionals and building social networks
