We were very grateful for Canary Wharf Group’s support following a donation of £40,000 which has enabled our organisation to purchase a 16 seat disabled accessible minibus. We are delighted to have given it the name George, in honour of Sir George Iacobescu CBE, Chairman of Canary Wharf Group. This will be a permanent reminder of CWG’s generosity in supporting this much needed service.

The minibus will be make a fantastic difference to the lives of a great many older people in Tower Hamlets, bringing independence and quality of life to some 40 people each week. It will enable us to provide transport and bring service users to our Sonali Gardens Day Centre, many of whom have experienced strokes or suffer from chronic ill health. As a result of CWG’s support, older people will be able to access vital rehabilitative services such as exercises, primary health care including chiropody, intergenerational activities, enjoy outings, and most importantly be part of the community.
