Cooking Club in East London for people experiencing mental health issues meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 2pm​

Our cooking club in east London is a place where you can learn new, affordable and nutritious recipes, improve your cooking skills and share a meal together with others, open to all .

Cooking club is free to join and open to adults in Tower Hamlets who are experiencing mental health issues. We will ask you to also register with Mind in Tower Hamlets, Redbridge and Newham when you join come to cooking club.​

Sharing a meal is an important part of social wellbeing and creates an opportunity to build social connections. ​

Recipes are suggested by members, and we use ingredients that are readily available and affordable. We celebrate our diversity and cultures through food preparing meals for Eid and Diwali. ​

You don’t need to have cooking skills; cooking club will provide ingredients and equipment for you to use to prepare a shared meal. We usually prepare vegetarian meals and will take into account food allergies.​

Our cooking club in East London is more than just cooking it is an opportunity to meet new people and build friendships and social connections.​

Here are some of the meals we have made and shared together:

 

  • Cous cous, falafel, Hummus, salad and banana cake ​
  • Mexican bean stew, rice, tortilla and guacamole, lemon berry loaf ​
  • Spinach and feta parcels, Greek salad, Victoria sponge ​

We provide this in partnership with Mind Tower Hamlets, Newham & Redbridge as part of our adult wellbeing services to local residents who want to improve their mental wellbeing having experienced poor mental health.
